Mission:
Animal Control’s mission is to ensure public safety and pet welfare by enforcing the ordinances of the City.

Services Provided:
Animal Control officers respond to a wide range of calls, including:

  • Stray dogs and cats

  • Barking dog complaints

  • Leash law violations

  • Dog fights and animal bites

  • Pet licensing issues

  • Animal abuse, neglect, or injuries

  • Deceased large wildlife (e.g., deer)

Priority Response:
While every call is important, Animal Control prioritizes:

  1. Dangerous animals

  2. Dog bites

  3. Animals in immediate distress

Staffing:

  • 9 full-time officers

  • 1 part-time officer

  • 1 civilian supervisor

  • 1 Police Captain
    Animal Control handles approximately 18,000 calls per year.

Community Responsibility:
Pet owners must be aware of and comply with local laws, including:

  • Pet limits

  • Rabies vaccination schedules

  • Noise complaints (e.g., barking dogs)
