Parks and Recreation

Legion Park
Legion Park is a sports complex and home to the Valley Springs Legion Post 131 baseball team. The park also features a softball field, soccer field, grass volleyball court, and horseshoe pits, along with a picnic shelter and playground for families to enjoy.

Cassady Park
Cassady Park is named after its founder, George Cassady. In 1878, he came to Valley Springs to serve as the town’s first railroad station agent, a role he held until his passing in 1913. Today, the park

offers a spacious playground, shady trees, and picnic tables—making it a favorite spot for families and gatherings.

Beaver Creek Nature Center

(Southwest of Valley Springs)

Beaver Creek Nature Center was developed to promote environmental awareness and highlight the natural and historical resources of the area. Visitors can explore 1.5 miles of scenic, hilly trails while observing birds, wildlife, and a wide variety of trees.

Each year, the park hosts the Homesteader Day Harvest Festival on the Sunday after Labor Day. This free event features live fiddlers, pioneer crafts, living history demonstrations, and traditional farming exhibits. For more information, contact the park office at 605-773-6245.
